We design and build custom outdoor living spaces for San Antonio homeowners — engineered for Texas heat, built to code, and finished the way we'd finish our own backyard.
You should not have to chase a builder for a callback, wonder what happened to your deposit, or find out mid-build that the price changed. Most of the people who call us have already been through that with someone else.
Decks Done Right San Antonio builds custom wood decks, composite decks, pergolas, pavilions, patio covers and outdoor kitchens across the San Antonio metro. Every project starts with a free on-site design consultation, gets a written scope with a fixed price, and gets built by our own crew — not a rotating cast of subs.
We handle the permitting, the inspections and the cleanup. You pick the finish and the furniture.

Pick the structure that fits how you actually use your yard. Not sure yet? Most consultations start with a rough idea and end with a drawing.
A wood deck is still the fastest way to turn unusable yard into a place you actually sit. We build in cedar and premium pressure-treated pine, with framing sized for San Antonio's clay soil and drainage designed so water leaves the structure instead of sitting in it.
If you are tired of stripping and re-staining every couple of years, composite is the answer. Capped composite boards will not splinter, will not need sealing, and hold their color through South Texas summers. The framing underneath matters just as much as the surface, and we build it to outlast the boards.
A pergola gives you shade and structure without closing off the sky. We build heavy-timber cedar pergolas, stained steel-and-wood hybrids, and solid-top versions with a metal roof panel when you want real rain protection. Add lighting, fans and privacy walls and it becomes the room everyone ends up in.
A pavilion is a full roof — shade in August, dry seating in a spring storm, and a real ceiling to hang a fan, a TV and lighting from. We build freestanding gable and hip-roof pavilions with tongue-and-groove ceilings, exposed timber trusses and metal or shingle roofing to match your house.
The most practical upgrade on most San Antonio homes. An attached cover ties into your existing roofline, drops the temperature on the back of the house, and gives you a shaded slab you can use from March through October. We match your pitch, your shingles and your trim so it reads as original construction.
Built-in grills, bar seating, fireplaces and TV walls — the parts that turn a covered slab into the place you host. We frame, run the gas, water and electrical rough-in with licensed trades, and finish in stone, stucco or concrete to match the structure.
Cedar pergolas in Alamo Ranch, poolside pavilions in Stone Oak, patio covers in Helotes and Schertz. Every one of these was designed on site with the homeowner.

And why they hand our number to their neighbors.
We live and build here. The person who quotes your project is the person you call during it, and the crew on your property works for us — not for a subcontractor we met last week.
Anyone can screw down deck boards. We size footings for local soil, flash where the structure meets your house, and build the frame so the surface has something worth sitting on for decades.
You get a written scope, a materials list and a fixed number before we start. If you change something, we price the change before we build it. No surprise invoices at the end.
Most projects go from first call to finished build in three to six weeks, weather depending.
Tell us what you want out of the space. We come out, measure, walk the yard and talk through what will actually work with your slab, your roofline and your budget.
You get a layout, material options and a fixed written quote. We pull the permit and schedule the build once you approve it.
Our crew builds it, passes inspection, hauls off every scrap and walks the finished space with you before final payment.

As a working range, pressure-treated pine decks generally run about $25 to $40 per square foot installed, and composite decks about $45 to $90 per square foot. Your actual number depends on size, height off the ground, railings, stairs and add-ons like lighting or a roof structure. We give you a fixed written price after we see the space.
Design and features, more than the decking material itself:
Typically 8 to 15 years in South Texas, depending on sun exposure, drainage and how often it gets sealed. Cedar holds up well with regular staining. The framing underneath usually decides the real lifespan, which is why we spend the money there.
Capped composite typically lasts 25 to 50 years and most systems carry a 25-year residential warranty. That only matters if the frame under it is built to match — if the framing fails, the deck fails no matter what the surface is made of.
Usually yes. If the slab is structurally sound and we can handle drainage and framing height correctly, building over it saves demolition cost. We check the slab before quoting it either way.
In most cases yes. Attached structures, roofed structures and elevated decks generally require a permit through the City of San Antonio Development Services Department, and outlying areas have their own requirements. If you are in an HOA, there is usually an architectural review as well. We handle the permit application and the inspections as part of the job.
Most decks are finished in one to three weeks of build time. Pavilions and outdoor kitchens run longer, usually three to six weeks depending on roofing, utilities and finishes. Permit turnaround and weather are the two variables we cannot control, and we tell you up front where those stand.
Wood costs less up front and looks warmer, but it needs stripping and re-staining every couple of years in this climate. Composite costs more day one and then essentially stops costing you anything. If you plan to stay in the house more than five years, composite usually wins on total cost.
Because the builds are not the same. The gap usually comes from:
